We would like to start by telling you a little bit about our organisation. It is called the Abyssinia Support Foundation and is a charitable organisation supporting twelve orphaned children between the ages of four and twelve in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It provides accommodation, meals, schooling and love and care for these kids who otherwise would end up fending for themselves on the streets of Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia has no support structure for orphaned children, such as in the United Kingdom. Having lost their parents at such a young age and with no-one to care and look after them, a charitable organisation like the Abyssinia Support Foundation is often these kids’ only hope of a future. We have a rented house in Addis Ababa with staff that cook, clean and provide a loving and caring environment for these little children twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
This is where we are in desperate need of your support. We need to raise sufficient funds to ensure that the rent is paid for the next couple of years on the house so that these kids do not end up on the streets at such a tender age. Up to now the charity has largely been funded privately by its founders but we now need as many of you as possible to get behind this cause and do your bit for these kids who, almost certainly, would not have a bright future without help.
So please help us in anyway you can. We would love for you to join us at a charity Tea Party we are organising on Saturday 19th December 2009 and raise as much money as possible. In doing so you will not only to put a smile on the faces of these kids, who will know that someone out there cares for them, but also be doing your bit for a community that would simply not have a future without you support.
